Founded in Atlanta in 1987, Marcia Wood Gallery represents emerging, mid-career and established artists.

The mission of the gallery is to assist exceptional young artists in the onset of their careers as well as to represent all of its artists with a commitment to a long term-vision and a specific focus on each artist’s work.

Our vision includes creating a synergy between the artists and the audience. Readings, talks, and public events are regularly hosted in the gallery to create a dialog between both communities.

Moreover, the gallery continuously works to build its artists careers through contact with curators, writers, institutions and exhibitions.

Since its inception the gallery has emphasized contemporary painting, showing the spectrum from figurative to minimalist, with a strong formalist aesthetic in exhibitions by artists such as Frances Barth, Rainer Gross, Alan Loehle, Joanne Mattera, Don Pollack, William Steiger, Tony Scherman and Venske & Spänle.

In 2002 the gallery program began to include a wider representation of various media in order to stimulate the dynamic that occurs when differing media are juxtaposed in the same environmental context.

Marcia Wood Gallery is a member of the Atlanta Gallery Association and ArTTable.
