Taylor is an abstract expressionist. Working in
an upbeat quirky palette, he incorporates biomorphic shapes with
fine gestural lines laid over the painting field.
As with volume suggested in sculpture by lines
bisecting space, Taylor's slightly tentative lines create action
between the somewhat familiar shapes.
The viewer may also glimpse a playful idea of
landscape peeking out of these modernist paintings before that perception
is placed in question by the abstract qualities of what appears
as an image.
